About

The theme of this edition of Science Café focuses on a new generation of Czech scientists and on what it means to start a scientific career in a European and international context today.

The invited young scientists will share personal insights into motivation to pursue a career in research, early scientific achievements, work in international teams, challenges of starting a research career and their role in communicating science to the public. The discussion will also explore their views on the future of science in Europe, cross-disciplinary and international collaboration, and their ambitions in a rapidly changing societal and technological context.

Speakers

Anna Krebsová

Anna Krebsová

Anna is a student at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Transportation Sciences. She is one of the founders of the LASAR student team, which received an award at NASA Space Center Houston in 2024 for its innovative idea in the Conrad Challenge competition. Currently, she and her team are focusing on deorbiting space debris using lasers from their own LASARsat to test the technology they are developing.

In 2025, Anna became an ambassador for the Czech Journey to Space project, in which she had the opportunity to experience real weightlessness during a ZeroG parabolic flight.

Now Anna is able to share information about opportunities for getting involved in space activities in the Czech Republic and to give lectures and educational presentations to schools, institutions, and the general public.
